Chief Executive Officer, Robert Johnson
Robert joined Blue Ocean Wireless from Inmarsat plc, the leading global satellite communications service provider, where he was Director of Maritime & Aeronautical Services.
Robert Johnson led the Maritime and Aeronautical teams at Inmarsat plc for nine years where he was responsible for the development of the company’s maritime and aeronautical global satellite commercial communication business.
Prior to joining Inmarsat, Robert spent fourteen years in the commercial maritime sector at Racal-Decca Marine, now part of Sperry Marine, the leading international electronics and systems group, where he was responsible for product development of radar and other electronic navigational aids. He previously spent thirteen years at sea as a Deck Officer with Shell Tankers. Robert Johnson is a qualified Master Mariner and was recently honoured with The Livery of The Honourable Company of Master Mariners by HRH The Princess Anne.
Claus Karthe, Chief Operating Officer, BOW
Claus is an experienced senior executive with a 20+ year career in the telecommunications industry working with Alcatel, Nokia and various startup companies. He holds a Masters Degree in Electrical Engineering from a German university and a Master of Business Administration degree from IMD / University Of Lausanne in Switzerland. Claus has a wide industrial and geographical experience gained through his 11 years managing Nokia’s expansion in Asia where he was Chairman of the Board of Nokia Philippines Inc. (until 2004) and a member of Business Board Nokia Asia Pacific (until 2002).
Claus joins BOW from Smart Communications Inc, where he was managing a key technology project to enable the expansion of Smart’s GSM network to address the maritime market.
Tariq Aslam, Chief Financial Officer, BOW
Tariq Aslam is an executive financial officer with significant main Board exposure. Tariq can draw on experience of multiple UK and US IPO completions, commercial analysis of Business cases/strategic options, international negotiations, governmental dealings, deriving significant operational efficiencies through restructuring programmes, implementations of complex ERP systems, such as SAP multi currency systems across multiple companies.
Tariq is a graduate from Aston University Business School and a Fellow of the Association of Certified Accountants.
